In-ground pool liners are held up by a track that runs around the top of the pool. When a bead pops free from the in-ground pool liner track, the lining sags. Enough beads pop loose and the swimming pool becomes unusable, and the condition could potential result in the contents of the pool flooding the lawn.
We always recommend that you use a professional like the Liner Specialists for any pool repair but if you are really adamant about repairing the pool yourself, here are a few tips... While you could empty the pool and simply slip the free beads back into the in-ground pool liner track, that means going through the time-consuming drainage and costly refilling of the pool process. An alternative solution is to drain the pool a foot from the top, then use a hair dryer to heat the lining. Keep the dryer moving back and forth to prevent the warm air from burning a hole in the liner. As the lining heats up, it will stretch, and you can pull the lining up until the bead reaches the tracking. Pop the bead back into the track and refill the pool. You may require help from someone else to erect enough effort to pull the lining up to the track. Remember that using a hair dryer around water is a dangerous situation. Be sure that everyone is out of the pool and take special care not to drop the dryer in the pool. If you do drop the dryer in the pool, do no try to retrieve it until the dryer has been unplugged.
If the bead repeatedly pops free of the in-ground pool liner track, pry a popsicle stick in the track over the bead. The popsicle stick will help hold the bead in place. An alternate and more professional preventive method is to install and liner lock on the pool.
